Usually, when thinking about hygge, I imagine lots of cozy blankets, candles, the fire going, warm drinks and the blustery weather outside. Although hygge is most often correlated with colder weather, I think you can certainly have a wonderfully hygge Spring as well!
Anytime my husband and I rework the style or decor in our home, it always comes back to keeping it cozy – but more than that, keeping it simple, beautiful and purposeful.

With Spring in full bloom, I have been refreshing things in our home, packing away the thick, dark wintery things & bringing out the light & bright warmer weather items – while still maintaining hygge in our home.
Here are a few ways you can keep your home hygge in the Spring too!
Bring in the florals
Bringing the outdoors in is a sure fire way to keep things cozy and peaceful. Having natural elements and the softness of botanicals through your home will keep your spirits up and continually remind you of simple beauty. I love bringing in peonies, hydrangeas or mums because they have big heads and look so fluffy – definitely the most coziest flowers if that is a thing! Fresh flowers are always optimal I think – but can get expensive if you love them around as much as we do! Faux florals like these will still make a lasting impression on your spring hygge! What are some of your favourite flowers to bring in your home?
Open the windows
It’s amazing how the atmosphere of a home can change when you allow the spring breeze and smells indoors. As long as it’s not freezing outside, it will refresh your home & fill it with natural smells to bring you clarity & peace.
Put away the thick + heavy textiles; Bring out the light + airy textiles
Once spring hits, you will be less likely to use your thick chunky blankets, but still want to keep cozy. Keeping soft & light blankets around will maintain coziness, and be likely used a lot more.
Have a light quilt to spare? Replace your heavy comforter with a thin quilt as the weather gets warmer. Our large fur blanket on our bed is the first to go with the warmer months and we replace it with something light!
We also added soft white curtains to our front living room and it has simultaneously cozied up to the room while keeping it bright and airy!
Bake something light + fruity
With the warmer months coming, we aren’t so quick to reach for the rich desserts, let alone bake them. Though, that doesn’t mean we can’t bake something light + guilt-free that everyone would enjoy.
Drizzle fruit on mini angel food cakes, or bake some healthy, fruit-filled muffins for a lighter baked treat! Half of it is in the process! If you aren’t big into baked goods for yourself, package some up and take them to a neighbour!
Here are some of my favourite light desserts perfect for Spring!
Raspberry Lemon Cookies via Bake. Eat. Repeat.
Spiced Grapefruit Tea Loaf via Humble Dish
Mini Blueberry Galettes via Completely Delicious
Lemon Poppyseed Muffins via Creme De La Crumb
Keep the candles
It is almost impossible to have hygge without candles, though we don’t tend to use them as the weather warms up. Try switching up your regular candles with tea lights! They will give you the ambiance just not the heat! If you aren’t a big fan of tea lights, keep the candles white and bright & choose some refreshing scents like eucalyptus & cucumber!
What are some ways your home changes in the Spring?
So beautiful!! I love having flowers around, and I’m trying to grow lavender in the windowsill right now, but faux flowers would probably be a more foolproof option for me! I love that copper dipped milk bottle you put the flowers in. Is that a DIY?
