Happy first day of Spring!! Even though there are still small amounts of snow on the ground, I can’t help but think about all the things we will do this Spring! The smell of the air is changing, the buds in the gardens and on the trees will start to show themselves, and soon you will actually hear people, happy people, outside again; tinkering in their gardens and going for walks. Our little town will start to feel alive again! After a long winter of many colds + touches of the flu going through our home – we are all in need of some extended & consistent amounts of time outside. I have been thinking about all the free things my family + I can do this Spring, so I wanted to share them!
To help you get into the groove of enjoying one of the loveliest seasons; I have rounded up some ways you can enjoy it without spending any money (or very little)! So as we take the time to clean out & simplify our homes, make time for the simple things that can bring you closer to the people around you, bring you closer to nature & bring you closer to yourself – without forking out the cash.
(… ❤ Check out my post on Self Care if you are more in need of that, after this unforgiving winter.)
30 Things to do in the Spring
Visit a local pond/park and see all the baby ducks!
Learn a new recipe using only your BBQ!
Take a big blanket and some board games to a park or even in your backyard and enjoy playing outside!
Plant some flowers in your garden that you have never planted before or learn how to plant something new!
Go sightseeing in your own town/city.
Visit a dog park with your dog.
Go on a bike ride. Bonus if there is ice-cream close by!
Watch the sunset.
Wash your cars together with family/friends. Make an afternoon out of it!
Put on a yard sale – this won’t cost you anything, but will hopefully make you some money!
Window shop in your city/town.
Sit out and look at the stars (& learn some new constellations!)
- Have a picnic at a park, or in your backyard!
Browse your local farmers market & check out all the fresh seasonal produce.
Have a bonfire.
Go to a free outdoor event.
Go for a drive.
Play a Spring themed scavenger hunt.
Make a DIY kite and go outside and fly it on a windy day.
Offer to take a friends dog for a walk!
Visit your local library and check out a classic book. Then go to the park and take turns reading it out loud with your partner, or your family – do this for the next few weeks! (This is more of a group activity!)
Check out local yard sales – they are the best in the Spring!
Go watch a local school’s sporting event.
Make a bird feeder.
Go fishing – pro or amateur style.
Have a water balloon fight – the stakes are higher when it’s not sweltering outside!
Play frisbee at your local park.
Visit a farm.
If you live in a place that you can do this all year round, I seriously envy you! & I know you can do a lot of these things in the summer and fall months too! Though after our Canadian winter, we are itching to do things that we haven’t been able to in months!
What are some of your Spring go-to activities?!

Great list of activities. I will have to try all of these once all the snow melts here.
This is such a great list! We love doing picnics, but I LOVE the idea of bringing games- how fun!
Great list of fun things! I am definately ready for spring. I’m welcoming warmer weather with open arms!! http://www.thedarlingdahlia.com
This is such a great reminder that you don’t have to spend money to have a nice day out. Here in WV we have lots of opportunities for hiking and getting outdoors in general. My kids used to love going to the pond to look at the ducks. Now I think they would enjoy a nice picnic.
I love how the most normal and basic things are fun again because just being outside is a treat.

We kinds missed spring around our neck of the woods and went straight into summer. But we are still enjoying all the different things there are to do and have done many on your list.

What a great list of things to do during the spring and summer. My husband and I took all the grandkids on a beach vacation without their parents. It’s a first for us and we’re having such a good time.
These are all great ideas! My favorite is always hanging out by the lake with the family. It’s relaxing for me in the kids get to have fun.

My husband started a routine he calls 10-minute sit out, he goes out on the front porch and just observe things. I sometimes join him and it’s relaxing.

You have some terrific suggestions on that list. I was just contemplating what a neighborhood yard sale might be like.
