Summer is officially over & my love-hate relationship with fall has begun.
Now don’t get me wrong, I adore fall. It’s the prettiest, coziest & most fashion-friendly time of year! You can light those candles without people getting mad because it is already so hot; you can pull out all those pretty sweaters that you’ve been dying to wear & make all the soups to your life’s content! & don’t forget being choked with all the pumpkin spice everything you could possibly want. Now, why is it a love-hate relationship? Because Winter follows. Period.
But I digress…let’s get back to the food! Fall is definitely the season for food – yummy soups, hearty meals & all the comfort you need!
I have rounded up some of my tried & true favourite autumn-y meals & some new ones I cannot wait to try! Come along with me on this cozy + tasty ride!
To Make Right Now
Now, of course, I need to start with a soup – one of the tastiest + simple soups ever! This butternut squash soup is not only tasty + simple, but it is a paleo, primal + gluten-free recipe, so you can serve it to just about anyone & they will love it!
When there is rustic in the name of the dish – you know it’s going to be good! This is one of my many favourite recipes that I make on some of the coolest nights to warm up every tummy. I have a special place in my heart for chicken thighs … & garlic gravy? Yes, please!
We can’t go through fall recipes without including pumpkin, obviously. I still haven’t tried the sweet art of cooking a risotto, but I think this recipe is pushing me towards taking the plunge. Anyone out there that has perfected the art?
Listen very carefully. Thanksgiving is coming, & there will be turkey, lots of turkey; and there will be leftovers, lots of leftovers. Remember this post, remember this recipe. Your eyes, your mouth + your tummy will thank you.
This recipe is good for breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, lunch, mid-afternoon snack, dinner, supper, late night snack, middle of the night snack + just about any other time you’d like to eat. Fluffy pumpkin spice Belgians? I think so.
For some reason, cool weather + cozy times calls for entertaining with family & friends – it is the beginning of the optimal Hygge season after all! So why not serve a fruity + warm + SUPER EASY dessert like this fruit bake? Maybe add some whipped cream? I think it’s perfection!
Even though pumpkins are usually the stars of Fall, we cannot forget the delicious + understated butternut squash. Want to hear a secret? I like it WAY better than pumpkin! So you can be sure I will be making this comfort food this Fall!
This one is for the people. Not for me, but the people. It’s one of the prettiest meals, but it has peanuts, and I am allergic. If anyone can help me with an alternative so I can indulge in this pretty meal, please let me know! Also – please make this for me & tell me how glorious it is. Thank you!
I’m down for any type of Carbonara. So if it’s fall inspired, I’m in! … & there’s bacon in it…I really shouldn’t have to explain any further.
It’s Mac & Cheese, baked in a pumpkin. Baked in a pumpkin. I MUST try this wizardry…so must you.
I know apples are usually the cat’s meow during the cool months – but I LOVE a good pear recipe…& I am salivating looking at this. What is better than fruit + cheese? I’m betting this will be a surprising favourite!
I have to end the Fall recipe round-up with an apple pie. My mother-in-law makes THE BEST apple pie – everything is absolutely perfection, but I can’t give away her secrets…so here is the next best thing. Paula Dean’s Apple Pie – you can’t deny it will be delicious! Heart-stopping most likely – but delicious nonetheless!
