Our sights were set on Myrtle Beach. Sandy feet & salty hair was in our future, and after too long without having a vacation, we were chomping at the bit to get away to truly relax and rejuvenate. I admit I was SO looking forward to this vacation, I almost forgot my past memories of vacationing had ceased to exist. We were a little family with a 3-year-old & a 2-month-old now… and I quickly came to the realization that maybe this vacation wouldn’t be as relaxing and rejuvenating as I would hope.
How were we going to relax with a super busy toddler and an infant who hasn’t rolled over yet, let alone sit? Well, this story had a very happy ending, with the one essential item that allowed us to relax on the beach, by the pool & in the hotel – our Deluxe DockAtot. An all natural, 100% cotton, handmade multi-functional lounger for your little one. It is the perfect little micro-climate for our little ones to lounge in, essentially anywhere! *The one pictured is for 0-6-month-old, but there is a larger size for 9-36-month-olds!

Now, I am all about baby wearing – but in the hot hot heat, among other reasons, I didn’t want to wear Finn all the time (though I did wear him a lot!) So it was SUPER helpful to have him safely lounging in the Dockatot on the bed, while we unpacked and settled into our room; then easily moving the Dockatot & him, into the living room area while we stared out at the beach from the balcony (without having to lug a playpen or baby seat around.)

It was the best thing EVER to be able to bring the DockAtot down by the beach for him to lounge in beside us, while we made sand castles with Levi, taking in the warmth of the sun & sound of the ocean. It’s safe to say I have created bonafide beach bums.
Finn was able to hang out comfortably while Ethan & I took turns enjoying the waves or hung out by the pool. We didn’t have to go up for naps because he dozed off right there beside us. Who wouldn’t fall asleep in that atmosphere?

We also quickly realized going down to the beach as a family of four weighs a lot more than it did with just the two of us – so adding another thing to carry for the little babe was not too exciting for us. Since the DockAtot is nearly weightless, it was not only extremely helpful, it didn’t make any difference to what we were already carrying. I was not about to lug a playpen all the way down to the pool or the beach, that’s for sure.

Traveling with an infant can be really daunting, especially when they can’t really do much yet & you still want to be able to enjoy your time too. If I had to pick one essential item to pack, it would be the DockAtot, hands down. It gave us so much freedom through our trip and we knew he was safe and comfortable no matter where he was.
What are some of your essentials & tips when traveling with a baby?

Road trip Hack: if you take a long road trip with an infant (as we drove 10 hours the first day & 5 hours the second day to Myrtle Beach); you will definitely be stopping quite a bit to change diapers. With the travel bag on the DockAtot, you can lay it on the passenger seat and change their diaper right there! It was SO easy and our stops were much quicker than finding a rest area each time and trekking it to the washrooms.
yep, i swear by dockatots. the big one transitioned my babe into her toddler bed in two nights and now our little guy still sleeps in his!
Wow! He is precious and looks so cozy in the DockaTot. Also, I have a Finn! He’s a bit older, but you have great taste in names. 🙂
I’ve read such wonderful reviews of the DockATot. It is something I’ll definitely consider when I have another baby. It definitely makes travel a lot easier with a baby.
Oh this looks so useful! When my husband and I start our family I am definitely getting one.
How smart is this little carrier? I can’t believe I’m only a few years out from having babies, but things change so quickly. I love that you can take it wherever, and baby gets to hang out with everyone without being held the entire time.
