It’s cleaning day! So what better time to share my list of Chores for Kids {by age}!
I started getting the boys involved in chores really early. Besides it being helpful for this mama (especially now with a fourth baby on the way!), it’s created a really great habit for them to be aware of the messes we make and how important it is to contribute, even if it’s just a little at the start!
While every family has their different way of making their home work, I think it’s safe to say getting kids to help out can work in most situations!

Thankfully my kids are in the stage of loving to help clean and do chores. We try to make it more fun for all of us by putting on some dance music, take frequent little snack breaks and keep switching things up so one task doesn’t start getting too boring.
Why get kids to help with chores?
- Chores teach kids independence.
- They help children learn responsibility.
- Doing chores helps kids feel needed within their family unit.
- They give them a feeling of importance at home.
- Chores create a work ethic and character within our children.
- Doing chores will help to cut back on entitlement.
- Working through chores with the family help kids learn to work together.

I hope this list of chores for children by age will help to get you started on letting the little ones help out around the house! I may not know you, but I’m sure you could take a little load off your day!
I have 3 sons-2, 3 and 4 years old. Since the 1 year old I teach children to help around the house and self-care. I use the Manini app for three children. It’s like printed chores cards, but in a phone. In the app, you can mark the completion of tasks, and children like it very much. And the app has a goal Board that lists all household chores and self-care for children under 5. The older child can already do almost everything, that is, almost 40 skills))). And I like it so much that they get carried away and resort to asking for more tasks.
